I believe there are four fundamental pillars of health: Movement, nutrition, thought, and environmental (internal and external) health. Over the course of my life from childhood to present day I have been fascinated and dedicated to exploring the human body through these four lenses. I knew at a young age that I wanted my medicine and health to be my contribution to society. I attempt to not only practice these pillars in my life personally but also to share my understanding with my patients. The one constant denominator I have found through my years of practice: balance between all of these is the key to true health.
I provide personalized health care. I value the time that I spend with patients to understand where they are in their current health condition: to listen, evaluate, diagnose and devise a solid treatment plan. I have also found that the synergistic approach of working together with surgeons, pharmacists, internists and practitioners of many sorts is crucial in patient care. This shared communication makes my practice unique in that I rely on all of these pillars to understand each individual to provide the exceptional care you deserve.
I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a BFA concentration in Sculpture focused on the human form. I served as a co-captain for the first NCAA Div. I Women’s Soccer Team at GSU. I continued my studies of the body as a Massage Therapist since 2000 and a Pilates Instructor since 2003. I completed my graduate studies with a Masters of Oriental Medicine in 2006 from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado. I completed a one year post graduate program with Whitfield Reaves, D.O.M. a leading pioneer in Sports Injury and Orthopedic Acupuncture. In 2008 I interned at the Chengdu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China. I am a licensed acupuncturist by the NCCAOM (National Certification Committee of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) and hold current acupuncture license in both the State of California and Colorado. I have completed special training in ASRT, a form of Trager bodywork that assists in muscular reeducation and reflex response re-patterning. I currently maintain a practice both at Eight Elements West in La Jolla and Awakenings Health Institute, a non-profit in Solana Beach that focuses on treatment of clients with spinal cord injuries and other neurological disorders.
