What is Strength Training?

Strength training at 8EW is a practice of internal engagement of the postural core structure, your body’s foundation. As an internal practice, you work with the body’s focus, control, concentration and balance.  As you establish a natural connection to the scientifically sound structural engineering of the body, you restore full function.

What kind of equipment is used in Strength Training?

Strength training at 8EW focuses on challenging postural stability and mobility utilizing bar forms, ropes, slide boards, power ropes, weights, kettlebells, balance boards and one’s own body weight. Private sessions begin with a  7-point Functional Movement Screen to determine a program challenging for your level of fitness.

What is the FIT in Strength-FIT Training ?

FIT stands for Functional Intelligence Training.  Functionality is re-established through (joint) mobility and (postural) stability.  The focus of FIT practice is on a body that works well, rather than body building aesthetics which is a more superficial way of working on the frame, rather than the content.  This outmoded approach may actually weaken, atrophy and rigidify internal structures. The FIT foundational philosophy is one of movement as a life practice, a way of being engaged fully in your body, much like martial arts.  It is a practice whose results last a lifetime.

How do Strength Training and Strength-FIT differ ?

Both types of training focus on deep internal engagement and strengthening of postural muscles and the core.  The Strength-FIT training is a more advanced version, requiring a trainer who is more familiar with a wider variety of stabilization exercises and equipment.  This more detailed approach is good for those who either require post-injury strengthening or for higher level athletes who need sport-specific training or a more intense challenge.

What will my first Strength session be like?

You will first be asked to fill out a client intake form with questions regarding your health history and goal in seeking us out. Come dressed in comfortable workout clothing that hugs the body. Before your session stay well hydrated, eat lightly and get a good night’s sleep – prepare your body for a wonderful training experience.

How many times a week should I do Strength Training?

Attending Strength Training Sessions regularly allows your trainer to really help guide your transformation through the small change you need to make each week.  This is the most important part of results.  Consistent attendance 2-3 times a week with either Private or Group Training Sessions will greatly enhance your energy, body strength and tone.  In return, this feeling of change will inspire you to stay with it.

Will I lose weight with Strength Training?

Strength Training is one of the best weight loss regimens when incorporating a regular cardiovascular exercise routine. You will activate your body in a way as never before, engaging dynamic postural strength. Along with a proper diet, you will see measurable body change and measurable strength results.   As with any weight loss program, we also recommend you see a professional for complete guidance.

Do men and women do Strength Training?

Absolutely! Strength training is challenging and invigorating.  Deep core strengthening is recommended for men and women alike.  Begin now to develop your core more deeply.  It’s never too late !

Do children do Strength Training?

Absolutely! Strength training is great way for kids to begin working with balance, dynamic movement and postural stabilization.   Depending on their age, the types of exercises the child should do will vary.   Children under the age of 18 will work with their lighter weights, props, or simply own body weight since the ends of bones are not fully matured.  A guardian approval will be required.
