Yoga, My Story

“I was introduced to Yoga when I was 18. After two severe automobile accidents, I was left with chronic back pain which caused sleep disruptions. Being conscious of my body and health, I wanted to keep moving daily with my athletic workout I had since high school. After trying the common route of medication (pain pills), I became clear this solution was only short-term, and that i needed to find something more natural and beneficial in the long-term. On a friend’s recommendation, I attended a Yoga class. At first I could barely reach my knees, let alone the floor. I looked around at the students stretched flat on the floor, their legs behind their heads, and I thought, “yeah right”. But I made it through. Afterward, I didn’t feel the need to take a single pain pill even though my entire body ached. I returned next day. And a year later I was free of pain pills, back pain, and I was able to sleep an entire night. At that point I decided to become a Yoga instructor. I began training at Yoga Well in San Diego. Taking every workshop available enabled me to receive my certification within a year and a half. I’ve been teaching ever since and love every minute of it. I am a firm believer in healing through Yoga. I am committed to helping others achieve their goals of the mind, body and spirit. I am thrilled to be a part of the 8 Elements West team. And, I am excited to meet you”!
